throwing a form on the wheel, the alchemy of glazing—and creating pieces I know people will use every day,” she says. A graduate of Memorial University (BA, BEd), Alexis received her ceramics and design training through courses and workshops. She signed up for her first pottery lessons (with Isabella St. John) in 1988, attended her first Craft Fair in 1991, and started teaching pottery courses herself the same year. She continues to learn and teach. Alexis also gives back to the community that has supported her by serving on committees of the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, and was a driving force behind its Studio Guide project.
