Chocolate!

You may wonder why there is no chocolate information on my website.  I often talk at length about chocolate when you visit the studio.  The reason is that this website is about my work and someday I’ll have a separate website about the chocolate – and soon I’ll have a Facebook page about it.  In the meantime I’ll try to add some links to the Chocolate I carry in the studio shop.

The Amedei has won awards as the best chocolate in the world:  www.amedei.it

Pacari chocolate is totally produced from bean to bar in Ecuador:  www.pacarichocolate.com

Vosges is delicious and has the best caramel:  www.vosgeschocolate.com

And newest of all:  www.frescochocolate.com

The Fresco chocolate makers are purists, the only ingredients in this chocolate are cocoa beans, cane sugar, and cocoa butter – this means NO NUTS, no gluten, dairy or soy.

News in the Studio

In addition to the news that I am learning to manage the web site and blog, some happenings in the studio are:

  • Summer Hours! I finally set hours for the shop and I am enjoying the routine.  The Hours are:

Monday to Saturday

10 am to 6 pm

  • New work in the studio this week by Danielle Lee.  Danielle had made some very popular mugs for the March of Mugs so I asked her for some other pieces and they are just beautiful.
  • New chocolate in the studio by Pacari chocolate www.pacarichocolate.com

See How Its Made: Crafts of Character Craft Demonstrations

I’ve just received the brochures and posters for the “See How It’s Made” Craft Demonstrations 2011.  I decided to give it a try this year and I have two collaborative events listed:

July 8 & 9 from 10 to 6

Crystalline Cabochons in Porcelain Clay with Jeweler Susan Stephen

Cabochons are uncut gems set in jewelery, I am already experimenting with the “gems” and Susan will be here July 8&9 to set them.

August 22-24 from 1-5

Pinch Pots with clay artist and jeweler Jason Holley

Jason had a great time at the NCECA clay conference this year making pinch pots with a Korean potter, he will be here in the afternoons on the 22-24 of August to make pinch pots with any visitors who would like to give it a try.

Spring Open House – April 30 – May 1, 2011

The spring Open House is early this year so as not to interfere with Mother’s day which is the second Sunday in May. Again it will be happening in conjunction with Fresh Fish, the Anna Templeton Centre Seconds Sale and some other Open Studios which will make up the May Day Craft Weekend. Look for the Green, White and Pink signs.
